All-ceramic crowns are an aesthetic and durable artificial covering for a tooth that can replace lost parts and protect the tooth. Dental crowns serve as a replacement for or addition to lost tooth tissue and can be made from various materials. However, all-ceramic crowns are the highest-quality and most aesthetic.
At our leading dental centre, we offer all-ceramic crowns made precisely to measure, which can last for several decades. They are mechanically strong enough to be used not only for front teeth but also for molars.
There are two ways of making all-ceramic crowns. One is handcrafting in a laboratory, while the more modern method, which we offer you, is fabrication directly in the surgery using CEREC technology. The crown is milled from a ceramic block by a robot with an accuracy of tenths of a millimetre, based on a prior scan of the tooth. With this method, there is no need to take impressions, make temporary crowns or wait up to 2 weeks for the final crown.
All-ceramic crowns have several advantages. They are indistinguishable from a “real” tooth, do not cause allergic or other reactions, and have a smooth surface that limits the build-up of plaque and the formation of microbial biofilm. They are also colour-stable, very strong and durable, and have almost zero thermal conductivity.
