A reduced level of consciousness that brings calm and relaxation and also reduces the perception of pain.

Dental treatment is then free of pain and psychological stress.

Sedation means calming the patient, both mentally and physically (in terms of movement). It brings calm, reduced nervousness and dulled perception.

The sedatives used do not induce sleep, only a reduced level of consciousness and drowsiness.

Sedatives are often given before a surgical procedure, before anaesthesia is administered. However, they can also be used for timid and nervous patients so that they tolerate dental treatment better. They can also be used for children.

Inhalation analgesia is also suitable for calming and relieving pain.

  • Conscious sedation can be used for procedures lasting up to two hours
  • The patient is only slightly “drowsy” but conscious and able to cooperate
  • Do not eat or drink for 3 hours before sedation
  • For 30 minutes after the procedure, the patient “sleeps it off”
You should not drive after sedation
  • Can also be given to children
