Surgical removal of pathological tissue, parts of the mucosa, growths and tumours in the mouth.
Our dental care centre provides comprehensive treatment of your mouth, not only the teeth but also the soft tissues, mucosa and gums. For this we also use surgical techniques and procedures such as excision/ectomy, i.e. cutting out/removal of pathologically altered tissue. This procedure may be performed for various growths, polyps, tumours or raised wound edges in the mouth.
There is no need to worry about this procedure, as it is carried out under local anaesthetic or another form of pain control. Although it is a safe and quick procedure, it is important to tell the dentist about any medicines you are taking, so that the wound does not bleed excessively if you take “blood-thinning” medication.
Please bear in mind that any such procedure may be accompanied by swelling and soreness. Our dental care centre will advise you on how to minimise these problems. We recommend taking painkillers, which are usually sufficient during the first day. It is also advisable to cool the treated area from the outside and to avoid alcohol and smoking, as these can irritate the treated area and slow down and impair healing.
